Welcome to the Website for the Association for Bahá’í Studies – United Kingdom (ABS-UK).

The Association for Bahá’í Studies, United Kingdom (ABS-UK) is one of a number of associations for Bahá’í Studies around the globe whose function is to promote the study of the Bahá’í Faith, in particular the correlation of its’ teachings to current issues and its applications to the needs of humanity. All are welcome to study the Bahá’í Faith and be involved in the activities of the ABS-UK, whether Bahá’ís or friends of the Faith, scholars or otherwise. As such, the ABS-UK is no longer a membership based organisation and is open to all.

The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of the UK has tasked the ABS-UK to consider innovative ways to promote scholarship of the Bahá’í Faith and to encourage the "life of the mind" of the Bahá’í community. Scholarship is an inherently valuable element of Baha'i life, to which the same processes of systematic learning being refined in other aspects of Bahá’í life may be applied.

The mission of the ABS-UK for 2010 includes:

  • developing Bahá’í participation in the prevalent discourses of society
  • stimulating interest and raising capacity for Baha'i studies at the community level
  • supporting youth and young adults in undertaking Bahá’í studies
  • engagement with universities and academia in particular leaders of thought outside of the Bahá’í community

We welcome any and all contributions, in particular how best to support and encourage individuals with the interest to pursue Baha'i studies.
